Men, For Example…

If the towers of the World Trade Center had not collapsed, how would the firemen have put out the fires?

Would they have gotten planes to drop water on the towers, since they were so tall?

Public Comments

  1. well never know, sadly:(

  3. The firemen said their could have controlled the fires, one said after he reached the upper flours, then 'two lines' would do the job. 4. THERE WERE FIRE HOSES ON EACH FLOOR
  5. maybe like in that film towering inferno where they opened the taps on a huge water tank on the top floor and the water poured downwards and put all the fires out?
  6. The planes were full of jet fuel. That made the fire so HOT nothing could have sustained those temperatures. Melts everything!
  7. The fires were caused by the crashed aircraft whose fuel burnt near to the top of the towers. The heat spread upwards and heated the tops for which no control by applied water was possible in the time available. In theory it would have been possible to seal the the lower floors from the tops and then cool these lower floors with water jets, This would have then allowed the fires to burn themselves out. However unfortunately the heat of the burning parts was so great as to cause the upper floors to start to collapse on themselves and as each floor fell it impacted with the next lower one. This later floor then had a greater weight on it and so it too collapsed and the progression of this resulted in the cooler lower parts being over-loaded too, even though they were not weaked by the heat, so the total collapse followed. The use of asbestos in the towers is a subject that has not been given much publicity, but these towers were about the last kinds of buildings for which this building material was permitted. The resulting dust and fumes from the collapsing towers may have spread a lot of fine asbestos particles into the atmosphere of New York. These particles are known to cause lung cancer when breathed in. I am wondering how long it will be before the effects of this will be seen to be affecting the population. I fear that we have not seen the end of this tragedy.
