How much did firemen earn during WW2?
My Father served with the the London AFS (Fire Service) during the war, i wondered how much he earned. He was full time.

- They did a very good job and im proud of them they did not have the equipment they have today,I would not think they was on a very good wage like most people them days
- They signed on at about the same rate as the A.R.P wardens. That is to say about 7 bob (shillings or 35p) per shift. A darned sight more than most blokes would have earned at their day job.
- They earned about £3.00 per week and were never paid overtime. The wages of firemen were always poor right up to the present day; that's why many have to do a second job. I know because I'm a retired fireman.
