How do POPULAR GUYS treat hot new girls?

do guys try to make conversation with hot new girls? or do even hot outgoing guys become intimidated when theres a new hot "had-to-get" girl? i was wondering, since there are these two hot guys in the class of the hot new girl, and i often see one trying to make conversation with the hot girl, but the other guy always suddenly turns silent, and try to get in to the conversation, only directing his speech to the other guy, and not to the hot girl. also, i was expecting lots of guys to try to make conversation with her, but all they do is smirk and whisper to each other when she walks by. WHY IS THIS? i thought guys would go all over her.

1. They are probably afraid of rejection. A lot of hot girls say guys do not approach them often.

3. alrite well the two guys are trying to hit on her ....as for the silent one he's either the other guys wingman (trying to make his friend look good) or he gets nervous and runs out of things to say.............and as for the other guys ...they lack confidence and think that they dont have a chance with her =]
