Men, For Example…

what happens to babies that are given to firemen, policemen, and nurses within 72 hours of their birth?

Okay, in health class I learned that a mother can give her child to a fireman, policeman, or nurse within 72 hours of the childs birth if they dont want them. What happens to the babies that are given to a fireman, policeman, or nurse? I am just wondering lol. thanks!

  1. They get put into the system, for adoption.
  2. They go into the foster care system and being newborns are usually adopted out.
  3. They go into foster care and are usually placed in a foster to adopt.
  4. Well, what they're teaching you in school is wrong. A parent can go to any firehall or hospital, childrens services etc. ANYTIME and leave an infant or child and it's a no questions asked policy. These children are put into the foster care system and adopted.
  5. They are placed with foster parents for a period of time, then placed with adoptive parents.
  6. I think your talking about the safe place law. Women are permitted to "abandon" their children at hospitals, police stations and fire depts. (In most states there is no 72hr restriction) While the women are asked no questions, they give up all rights to the child. It will be placed into a temporary foster home, and later adopted out. It happens the same as if a women legally signed over her rights.
  7. They are taken to the hospital for a quick exam to make sure they are healthy then they are placed in the system. By the way I think it's either 30 or 90 days that the mother has to claim the baby if she wants it back. Edit: Really thumbs down, maybe you guys should read the letter of the law then you'd find out I am right.
  8. In some states, it can be longer than that. The baby is put up for adoption. The one thing the mom must NOT do is just leave the baby somewhere (even at a fire station, police station, or hospital) and hope it's found. The baby must be left with a qualified PERSON. If not, the mother can be prosecuted for abandonment, endangerment or worse, if something happens to the baby. Child abusers do seriously hard time in prison.
  9. dhr steps in and they're put in2 the system
