Why do you think suicide rates for males are incredibly higher than females?

Studies show that for every 4 male suicides there is 1 female suicide. Why do you think males have a significantly higher suicide rate?

Actually women attempt suicide way more than men do, yet more men commit suicide. Men are more "successful" (lack of a better word) at it since they usually use harsher methods than women do.
Men have it harder than women.
Females make bobies.
Women attempt suicide more than men, however, their methods are non lethal more of the time; things such as taking pills. Men just use a gun to the head.
Probably because males cannot handle the pressure and feel down...Women have been looked down upon by males(unfortunately) so they might be used to it.
well my dad did this study once when he thought of suicide. Men have a higher currency of suicide because of divorce. It mostly occurs when the female takes the man for every thing still makes him pay child support, yet he doesn't get to see his kids, their lives basically get turned to hell. And in another question i asked you mentioned you have thougth of suicide, i am sorry if you didn't want that shared, but don't do it, its Just a waste of life. To me you sound like an Intelligent person who is growing through some rough times. Believe me i no what your going through. I once attempted suicide. I think an important part of it is that suicide is the ultimate act of isolation. Generally speaking, suicide is probably (don't really know) more common among people without strong attachments to others. That tends to describe the guy approach.
we actually talked about this in my psych class! the thing is, even though more women try to commit suicide, it's the men who usually succeed, just because they are more aggressive in their attempts. Women end up questioning themselves, but men just posses this evolutionary instinct of making clear-cut decisions that they stick with.
